Daphne Ong, AMFT

Therapist

Daphne joined Bayside Marin in July 2024. She is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) and a Registered Drama Therapist (RDT) with the North American Drama Therapy Association. She has worked with a spectrum of populations, starting with her pre-practicum drama therapy work at San Quentin State Prison, and practicum at the Liberation Institute in San Francisco providing individual and couples therapy to adults. As an AMFT, she cut her teeth as a mental health case manager and psychotherapist in some of the most high-needs communities in San Francisco with Conard House, where she witnessed the devastating intersection of trauma and substance use. She then moved on to providing group psychotherapy at the Mills Health Center adolescent behavioral health inpatient unit in San Mateo.

After working as a professional actor in Singapore for 10 years, Daphne went back to school and graduated with her Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Drama Therapy from the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco. She continues ongoing training in psychodrama. She is passionate about using embodied methods to enrich evidence-based modalities. Her work incorporates experiential methods and psychodrama wherever appropriate. She has a special interest in developing therapeutic theatre works, especially in social justice. She performed in Consent, Dissent, Reinvent in 2018, a Theatre for Change initiative by Renee Emunah of California Institute of Integral Studies.

Daphne loves taking walks and hikes through the seaside and forest trails of the Bay Area. Yoga keeps her grounded, astronomy keeps her looking upward, and art keeps her growing.
