Bayside Marin utilizes research-backed therapies that are on the leading edge of addiction and dual diagnosis treatment.
Addiction and mental health treatment at Bayside Marin begins with a comprehensive assessment of each client’s addiction, treatment history, health and psychological status, support systems, occupational/school history, current status, and any legal problems. Then we work with clients to design an individualized treatment plan with specific goals which may be modified as treatment progresses. Our treatment team utilizes a broad range of traditional therapies as well as holistic and alternative approaches, including:
Individual Therapy
A master’s or doctoral level primary therapist meets with you twice a week for an individual therapy session.
These sessions help you develop and review treatment goals, identify progress, and resolve obstacles to your recovery. Therapeutic assignments and readings help build the skills you’ll need for long-term recovery.
Our therapists specialize in a variety of areas, each with their own distinct approach. During treatment, you may experience some of the following therapeutic approaches as well as others:
- Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy
- Humanistic Therapy
- Motivational Interviewing
- Client-Centered Therapy
- Solution-Focused Interventions
- Somatic Experiencing (for trauma resolution)
Group Therapy
Clinical research and our own experience show us that group therapy is an extremely powerful way for people to explore the issues underlying their addictions.
Five days a week, clients at Bayside Marin participate in process groups where they share feedback and support with their therapist and peers. In a safe, honest and respectful environment, clients build their communication and problem-solving skills, change mistaken thinking, and learn to identify and express their personal truths.
Examples of Process Groups:
- Real-World Recovery
- Anger Management
- Dual Diagnosis Treatment
- Personality Disorders
- Emotional Trauma
- Art Therapy
- Spirituality
- Relapse Prevention
Family Therapy
Our Family Program provides clients and their family members or significant others with education and support during the recovery process.
Services include treatment updates, family therapy sessions and a weekend family program that is hosted at Bayside Marin on the first and third weekend of every month.
Education
Through lectures and interactive exercises, clients learn about such topics as the disease of addiction, spirituality, life skills, transitions, relationships in recovery, and many others.
Holistic Therapies
Included in treatment are holistic therapies such as yoga and Qigong.
These are some of our clients’ favorite activities at Bayside Marin. By learning relaxation skills and breath awareness techniques, clients are better prepared to cope with stress both during and after treatment.
Fitness
Physical health and vitality are key components of a successful recovery program.
Clients at Bayside Marin have access to the fully equipped gym at our outpatient facility, as well as other amenities such as a swimming pool, basketball court, spa, suana, and walking trails.
Self-Help Support Groups
We recommend that clients attend as many self-help support meetings as possible during drug rehab treatment at Bayside Marin.
These may include Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, and alternatives to the 12-Step approach such as SMART Recovery and LifeRing.
Most individuals who are serious about long-term recovery consider regular and ongoing attendance at support meetings to be a critical part of their recovery plan. By attending a variety of meetings while in treatment, clients gain a sense of which approach is right for them.
Transition Ceremony
When a client completes treatment at Bayside Marin, a celebratory transition ceremony marks their graduation to the next stage of recovery.
As a coin passes around the room, residents and staff share their memories and hopes for the graduate. The graduating resident carries the coin with them as a symbol of the life-changing work they did at Bayside Marin.
